As Mayor of Richmond, I was honoured to be invited to the Regimental Boxing Night: 6 Regiment RLC vs 3 Medical Regiment AMC on 2 December 2025, held in Dishforth.
My sincere thanks to Lt Col BJ Watts-Evans RLC for the kind invitation, and a heartfelt thank-you to Sgt J. McDermott for being such an exceptional host. His professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail made the evening truly memorable. The energy in the room was incredible, the bouts were competitive and disciplined, and the camaraderie between the regiments was inspiring.
Richmond has a long and proud relationship with the Armed Forces, and Richmond Town Council deeply values the strong link we share with all military units based in and around our community. Nights like this highlight not only the skill and dedication of our service personnel, but also the mutual respect and partnership that bind our town and our Armed Forces together.
I was also honoured to present the award for the Male Light Middleweight bout, a moment I will remember with pride.
